Research is at the heart of what we do
Through Sitio, we develop and test ideas in practice through applied research. This provides the evidence, tools and methods needed to support and enable better decision making.

Our research is applied and impact-focused. It is shaped by real projects and feeds directly back into how those projects are designed and delivered.
We respond to emerging questions from our partners and the wider sector. Our research projects are often co-designed with partners, Constructive Thinking clients, communities and delivery teams.
We run pilot studies, monitor performance and carry out post-occupancy evaluation and implement solutions based on measured outcomes.
Our research produces robust evidence — from carbon savings to occupant wellbeing metrics — that can be translated into practical design changes, procurement specifications and scalable delivery models. This helps us measure our impact.
We explore how to design buildings and neighbourhoods that are environmentally responsible, economically viable and socially equitable. Our approach is practical, structured and grounded in rigorous analysis, combining lifecycle assessment of buildings, materials and systems with real project insight and an understanding of cultural context.
We work collaboratively with academic institutions, industry partners and communities to ensure our research responds to real challenges and translates into usable, people‑centred strategies. These strategies are tested and refined through projects delivered by the team at Constructive Thinking.
Our findings are shared with government bodies, local authorities, public institutions, developers, contractors and community organisations to support informed decision‑making and accelerate the decarbonisation of neighbourhoods.
