Benefits of our research

The benefits of our research include:

Sharing knowledge

We convene experts, develop partnerships and initiatives. We work with universities, local authorities, national government departments and agencies, and housing provider clients, including Constructive Thinking’s clients. Through workshops, roundtables, collaborative research partnerships and placements, we connect academics, local authorities, housing providers, contractors and community advocates to share lessons, align practice and co-develop solutions. This sustained exchange builds shared protocols, improves communication across sectors and helps embed proven approaches into everyday delivery.

Data-driven decision making

Our research helps to develop optimised, analytical, transparent and scalable frameworks and workflows to support better decision making. We produce transparent options that quantify carbon, cost and wellbeing implications for new build and retrofit. The aim is to reduce uncertainty, accelerate decision cycles and enable more consistent, lowcarbon outcomes at scale.

Policy support

We generate and present knowledge, actionable strategies and other recommendations to enhance the decarbonisation of our neighbourhoods. We do not have a political affiliation, but we do work with local and national governments. By producing evidence briefs, and contributing technical submissions informed by real projects, we help remove barriers to decarbonisation and test interventions in live contexts. The result is policy guidance that is both technically sound and deliverable, increasing the likelihood that effective measures are adopted and scaled.

Empowering people

We focus on shifting mindsets, developing skills, and building a culture of decarbonisation. At Sitio, education is central to empowering people, including the Constructive Thinking team, placement attendees, and participants in our CPD programmes. We also work closely with local communities, listening to their needs and incorporating them into our work.

Outputs and tools

These outputs and tools are designed to support decision makers, improve delivery, and accelerate decarbonisation across the built environment. They include:

  • Research papers and project reports
  • Insights, toolkits and technical guidance
  • Events, workshops and roundtables
  • CPDs and learning programmes
  • Publications and sector commentary
