Constructive Thinking is an architecture practice focused on the design and delivery of low-energy, low-carbon buildings from studios in Liverpool, London and Madrid.
Fundamental to our approach are people and technology.
We work on new build and retrofit projects, with a particular focus on improving performance across existing portfolios.
We place people at the heart of our work, designing buildings that perform not just in energy terms, but in how they are used, experienced, and maintained over time.
Our work spans housing, hospitality, and commercial buildings. We combine design quality with a clear focus on performance in use, ensuring that buildings deliver as intended beyond completion.
We take a considered, evidence-based approach from the outset. By understanding how buildings perform and how they are used, we support better decisions early in the process, reducing risk and improving outcomes for clients and end users.

Our team
We are a collective of architects, designers, and technologists focused on improving the built environment through thoughtful, sustainable design.
We bring together a range of complementary skills and perspectives, allowing us to respond to complex challenges in a considered and practical way.
We are always interested in hearing from people who share our focus on sustainability and performance in the built environment. If you are interested in joining our team, please send your CV to recruitment@constructivethinking.co.uk

Our people-focused approach
People are central to how we think, design, and deliver our projects.
Every project begins with a clear understanding of the building, its users, and the wider context in which it sits. We design spaces that respond to how they are used in practice, supporting comfort, usability, and long-term value.
We work closely with clients, stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure that design intent is maintained through to completion and into operation. Across our studios, we create an environment where ideas can be tested, challenged, and refined. Staying curious helps us refine our processes, explore new technologies, and improve how we work.

Our technology-focused approach
We use digital tools and structured workflows to improve how buildings are designed, delivered, and perform in use.
This includes the use of digital twins, data analysis, Building Information Modelling (BIM), and Building Energy Modelling (BEM). These approaches allow us to test options, understand performance, and support informed decision-making throughout the design and delivery process.
Our use of technology is not about tools for their own sake. It is about providing clarity, reducing risk, and ensuring that buildings perform as expected once in use.
